After an extremely active winter transfer window, Juventus are determined to continue bolstering their squad as they are keen to sign the star Dutch forward Memphis Depay.

Since the 28 year-old’s decision to leave Lyon and join Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer of 2021, life with the Catalonian giants has not gone according to plan for the Dutch international.

The clinical goal scorer has failed to establish his spot within the starting eleven under Xavi Hernandez at the helm of the club, following the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres, and Adama Traore within the front-line of attack for the Blaugrana throughout the January transfer window. As a result, the club is eager to cash out on Depay in order to gain funds that they can allocate towards improving other positions within the squad.

According to Calciomercato, the Bianconeri are monitoring the situation very closely as they are eager to lure to the Dutch international to the Allianz Stadium next season. With Depay’s current contract with the La Liga giants set to expire in the summer of 2023, the Old Lady are plotting a low-ball bid from his €45M transfer market value.

Despite his underwhelming form of 11 goals and three assists in 30 games across all competitions for Barcelona throughout this year’s current campaign, Juventus view Depay as an vital asset that can play fundamental role within the front three of their squad.

As it stands, Paulo Dybala is set to depart the Bianconeri as a free agent after his eight-year stay in Turin. In addition, the futures of star forwards Federico Bernardeschi, Alvaro Morata, and Moise Kean with the Serie A giants still remain unknown ahead of next year’s campaign. Therefore, the signing of the Depay from Barcelona would permit Allegri to strengthen his sensitive attacking position within his current squad.

The Bianconeri face a great deal of competition in acquiring Depay as fellow Serie A club Napoli are also determined to sign the Dutch international in order to fill the void within their squad caused by Lorenzo Insigne agreeing to join Toronto FC at the end of this year’s campaign. In addition, Premier League giants Tottenham also find themselves within the race as their current managing director Fabio Paratici has been eyeing Depay throughout his time as the Chief Football Officer of Juventus.
