It seems like the transfer market has undergone an unexpected turn of events as the Chelsea marksman Romelu Lukaku is determined to rejoin Inter at the end of the campaign, after having left the Serie A giants only eight months ago.

Since Lukaku’s shocking €115M transfer move to The Blues at a €12M per season contract across five years, the Belgian international has failed to live up to the expectations following his incredible 21-goal Serie A season campaign, where he helped the Nerazzurri win the league title for the first time in over a decade. The prolific goal-scorer has only managed to score five goals in 19 games played for the Premier League giants across all competitions.

With Belgian’s highly anticipated return to his childhood club for the first time since 2014 turning into a horrific nightmare, the 29 year-old is set to eager to depart the Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, as per Gazzetta dello Sport .

Despite having already expressed his desire to return to La Beneamata within the near-future in an interview with Sky Italia, the talisman has failed to impress Tuchel after having lost his spot within the starting eleven to the German international Kai Havertz due to his lack of consistency within his displays on the pitch. With Lukaku unable to build a positive bond with the gaffer, the prolific number nine is devoted to returning to the Stadio San Siro.

As it stands, acquiring Lukaku from Chelsea will be extremely difficult for Inter as they are in no position financially to make such a lucrative transfer offer. The Nerazzurri would only be able to attain the signing of the Belgian international on a loan deal with a salary of €7.5M, reducing his hefty wages by a significant amount.

However, with the club eager to offer Paulo Dybala the exact same amount of wages on a five-year contract following the collapse of the Argentine’s negotiations with Juventus regarding a renewal, it is uncertain whether the Milanese club would want to pursue such a difficult acquisition.
