Despite recent setbacks, Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti thinks that his squad must believe in their Scudetto.

Napoli have fallen out of the Scudetto race after a 3-2 home defeat to Fiorentina and a 1-1 draw against Roma. The Partenopei will face off against Empoli this season and will be without Kalidou Koulibaly, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, David Ospina, Stanislav Lobotka and Eljif Elmas.

“As long as we have the possibility, we also have the duty to believe, while taking on the responsibility for what is happening. But we believe…”

“We need to focus on the present, as whoever thinks about the past is a masochist. Alessandro Zanoli had a fitness problem too and needs to be evaluated. We need to focus on finding solutions, so Diego Demme could certainly get a chance.”

When asked about whether club President Aurelio De Laurentiis still believes in the Scudetto, Spalletti said:

“I don’t know, because I didn’t meet with him. We mustn’t feel the weight of this situation on our shoulders, the responsibility of the fans who are in love with Napoli and the hunger of Empoli, whereas if you don’t care as much, it all becomes easier,” he added.

“My future is Napoli, my present is Napoli, for the rest we can talk about it at the end of the season. We need to focus on these final five games, because I believe and the fans believe.”

Spalletti will be eager to come away with three points this weekend and carry such momentum into this season’s remaining matches.
