After months of speculation regarding Paulo Dybala’s next destination, following his departure from Juventus at the end of last season’s campaign which ended his eight-year stay in Turin, the highly-anticipated transfer saga has come to a conclusion as Roma won the race for the world-class Argentine’s signature in spectacular fashion.

For the past several months, it seemed that the 28 year-old was set to join Inter on a five-year deal worth €7m per season with add-ons included, reuniting with his fellow friend Beppe Marotta, the Sporting Director of the Nerazzurri, following three spectacular seasons together at Juventus.

However, with the return of Romelu Lukaku to the San Siro on a dry loan from Chelsea and the Chilean Alexis Sanchez refusing to part ways with Il Biscione, the negotiations between both parties have stalled, causing La Joya to lose his patience and lean towards an alternative path.

As a result, Mourinho pounced on the opportunity over the weekend discussed with Dybala and his agent through a phone call about the Roma project. As a result, the Special One demonstrated his brilliance once again, as he managed to persuade one of Serie A’s biggest names to sign for the Giallorossi, despite not having Champions League football.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Dybala has agreed on a three-year deal worth €6m per-season with Mourinho’s side. With the Portuguese tactician sealing the attacking-ace on a free transfer, the Special One has potentially saved himself a sufficient amount of funds that would permit to push for one more signing, which could perhaps make Roma significant favourites in finishing within the top four next season.

Despite the 28 year-old’s lack of playing time due to consecutive injuries, Mouirnho firmly believes that Dybala is the quintessential trequartista for his squad as the Argentine and the well documented forward Tammy Abraham tend compliment each other’s qualities on the pitch in a fine manner.
