After several months of speculation swirling into the air, the Danish star is set to depart the Serie A as the Sampdoria prospect Mikkel Damsgaard is on the cusp of joining Brentford.

Since arriving to Sampdoria from the Danish Superliga side Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2020, the attacking trident has prospered as he made a total of 46 appearances across all competitions for I Blucerchiati.

In addition, the 22 year-old rising star has had a successful Euro 2020 campaign, playing a significant role in assisting the Danish national team in reaching the semi finals.

As a result of his magnificent displays, the wide play-maker has attracted the interest of numerous foreign clubs, one them being Brentford who are now in pole-position in obtaining his signature.

According to reports via Fabrizio Romano, Brentford’s bid of €15m is set to be accepted and the club is prepared to offer a five year contract, tying Damsgaard down until the summer of 2027.

With Christian Eriksen departing for Manchester United, the board firmly believes that the Serie A prospect is the perfect alternative that will provide similar fluidity and creativity within the final third of the pitch.
